Invisalign and Clear Aligners
What are Invisalign and Clear Aligners?
Rather than choose an orthodontic treatment option that involves metal brackets and wiring, many of our patients benefit from Invisalign. Invisalign is a system of clear aligners that will work to straighten your teeth and perfect your smile. These aligners are virtually invisible to the naked eye, but they’re just as effective as traditional braces. Invisalign is ideal for patients of all ages, including teenagers and adults.
Why are Invisalign and Clear Aligners needed?
When you have crowded or crooked teeth, it’s more than just a cosmetic issue. For many patients, it can be downright impossible to care for their teeth because of how crooked they are. In order to rectify this problem, Invisalign can be worn to help straighten your teeth. The beauty about this clear aligner system is that it is faster than traditional braces, with most patients only having to wear their Invisalign for about six to 18 months.
Who is a candidate for Invisalign and Clear Aligners?
Most patients who have crooked or crowded teeth can benefit from Invisalign treatment. Because Invisalign is removable, it is often better suited to our teen and adult patients. This prevents smaller children from removing the appliances and prolonging treatment. Invisalign is a great alternative to traditional braces, and it’s ideal for patients who want to avoid the look and feel of metal brackets and wires.
What can you expect during treatment of Invisalign and Clear Aligners?
The Invisalign treatment process begins with a consultation, exam, impressions and x-rays. We customize the treatment plan for you and use your impressions to make your first set of clear aligners. You’ll wear these aligners for no less than about 22 hours each day. The Invisalign trays need to be removed when eating, flossing and brushing. You will then come in at regular intervals every few weeks so that we can make new Invisalign trays for you to wear.
