Dental bonding is a procedure that involves adding composite resin to an area that is chipped, unevenly spaced or unsightly. Bonding is a cosmetic procedure that is done to enhance your overall smile. The bonding material is perfectly matched to your existing teeth so that it looks as natural as possible. You can expect the bonding to last for about 10 years or longer with proper care.

Who is a candidate for Dental Bonding?

Most patients are good candidates for bonding because of how noninvasive the procedure actually is. In fact, most patients won’t even need anesthetic in order to have the bonding done. Bonding is most often done on the front teeth to improve the overall appearance of a patient’s smile. We can perform an exam to determine if you would benefit from bonding.

What happens during the Dental Bonding procedure?

We first file down the existing teeth to smooth out any sharp edges or ridges. We then carefully match the bonding material with your tooth so that it blends flawlessly. A bonding gel is applied to the tooth and quickly washed away to help the material adhere to the area. The composite is then placed over the tooth and smoothed into place. The composite is cured several times to ensure that it is permanently in place and will not move. You can leave the office feeling great about the way that your smile looks thanks to the bonding that was done.
